Evan Tapper is a visual and media artist, arts educator, higher education leader, and community volunteer.  He received a BFA from the School of Art, University of Manitoba and an MFA from the School of Art, Carnegie Mellon University. Evan was a resident artist at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, the Center for Contemporary Art Kitakyushu Japan, and the Jewish Museum in New York. His animations, videos, performances and installations have been exhibited throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, South America, the Middle East, Australia, and Asia. This work was featured at events such as World Pride and Nuit Blanche Toronto, festivals such as the Melbourne International Animation Festival, museums including the Tate Modern, galleries such as InterAccess, and broadcast on the CBC. Evan was the inaugural Dean of Extended Studies at CalArts in Los Angeles and the founding Director of the School of Continuing Studies at OCAD University in Toronto. Evan has taught animation and media art courses at OCAD University, University of Toronto Scarborough, McMaster University, and the State University of New York College at Fredonia. He has received awards from organizations such as Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, New York Foundation for the Arts, Manitoba Arts Council, and Volunteer Toronto.
